To address the credibility factors assailing the voluntary sector, CAF India initiated a validation programme in 2000, with the aim of enhancing standards of accountability in voluntary organisations.
This exercise was undertaken in conjunction with the Planning Commission of India. Its immediate result was a validated CAF database consisting of 1,300 charities; it also set in motion processes for exploring more evolved mechanisms to ensure credibility and accountability of non-profit organisations.
