Phenomenal progress in understanding the psycho social changes that happen during the ageing process have changed the face of ageing. It is no longer inevitable to age and decline. It is all in your hands how happily and healthily one grows old and not get old. The key to success is "productive ageing".
A number of services have been instituted catering to the needs of seniors, like:
· Dignity Dialogue – writing or interviewing for the monthly magazine
· Dignity Second Careers – Job Placement -- paid job or voluntary work
· Dignity Companionship – working for lonely senior citizens
· Dignity Computers Skills – learning in their own home or in a cybercafe
· Dignity Civic Service – an exciting project with Bombay Municipal Corporation
· Dignity HELPLINE – working for giving social support to Elders being abused
· Security with Dignity – networking with Police to protect Elders living alone
· Govt ID Card for senior citizens – For the 60+, 25 centres of Dignity issue ID cards.
· Dignity Lifestyle – A retirement home for productive ageing at Neral, Mumbai
· Dignity Enrichment Centre – A day to dusk place for senior citizens to meet
· Dignity Dementia Care – Day care for people afflicted with dementia; awareness building
· Dignity Discovery – Fortnightly bus trip for the seniors living alone
Annual programme budget: Rs. 60 Lakhs
Dignity Foundation is a registered society (1776/97/C) and all donations are exempt under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act.
